Among the finest – and most recorded – Baroque chamber orchestras in the world, The English Concert, under the helm of Harry Bicket, will perform an inspiring concert with the world’s most renowned countertenor David Daniels. The magnetic Daniels is well known to Chicago audiences for his acclaimed performance and critical success in the role of Giulio Cesare at the Lyric Opera in 2007. Bicket, whose most recent local appearance garnered equal applause, is widely known for his interpretations of classical and baroque works and frequent guest conducting at the Metropolitan Opera. Though frequent collaborators, this will be the first time for local audiences to be treated to the pair in concert. Drawing on The English Concert’s newly released recording of Handel Arias & Scenes, as well as a critically lauded recording of Bach Symphonies, the ensemble will present renditions of works by Bach and Handel in what promises to be a highlight of the spring music season.
