The Hilliard Ensemble, one of the world’s pre-eminent vocal groups, joins eighth blackbird to present a musical profile of composer Stephen Hartke, praised by The New York Times for his “beautiful craftsmanship” and “imaginative drive.”

Featured are the playfulness in the imaginary Asian court music of Pulitzer Prize-nominated Meanwhile and the zany, Looney Tunes-inspired insanity of The Horse with the Lavender Eye. A more sublime, solemn beauty pervades Tituli, for which eighth blackbird will be joined by the Hilliard Ensemble.
