CCM’s first concert of the 2010-2011 season at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance showcases the unparalleled versatility and “sterling musicianship” (Chicago Classical Review) audiences have come to expect of the ensemble. Featured ensemble CCM Brass shine in Dahl’s Americana-inspired Music for Brass Instruments, while Mozart’s Serenade No. 11 highlights the delicate sonorities of woodwinds in a jovial work meant for pure entertainment. Franck’s Piano Quintet is considered by CCM pianist Meng-Chieh Liu to be “the most dramatic and powerful piano quintet in the Romantic literature,” exploring the passion and intensity of unrequited love through an unforgettable dialogue between strings and piano.
