Anila Sinha Foundation |
The Anila Sinha Foundation for the Promotion of Arts and Culture of India, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit arts organization, was established and incorporated in 1998 in memory of Mrs. Anila Sinha, a highly accomplished scholar, educator, performer and ambassador of Indian performing arts. Mrs. Sinha, internationally renowned dancer and musician; mesmerized American audiences in the 1940s and 1950s and awakened this country to then largely unknown (in the U.S.) performing arts of India. The Anila Sinha Foundation continues this important work; that is to bring the finest exponents of Kathak performance to America, to cultivate cross-cultural understanding, to conduct special activities beneficial to the field, and to pass on the Kathak performing arts in its purist form by providing training in affiliation with the premier Kathak academy in North India.
