Come celebrate The Chicago Community Trust’s contributions to the Chicago region. Join us as we commemorate our 98th anniversary. This evening of celebration and performance will highlight the incredible impact of our visionary donors, committed volunteers and innovative grant recipients who have worked with the Trust for the past 98 years to make metropolitan Chicago the thriving and vibrant place it is today.
Featuring Michael Pollan, New York Times best-selling author of In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto and The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals. Mr. Pollan will discuss his most recent book, Cooked, with Monica Eng, food and consumer issues reporter with the Chicago Tribune.*
Bill Kurtis, master of ceremonies, will lead us through a diverse sampling of entertainment, thoughtful conversations and hearty laughs – a perfect recipe to Celebrate 98!
The Trust, our region’s community foundation, partners with donors to leverage their philanthropy in ways that
transform lives and commu¬nities. The Trust, together with its donors, granted more than $150 million in 2012 to support diverse and vibrant arts organizations, protect the human services safety net for those hardest hit by the
recession, stem the devastating effects of foreclosures on our neighborhoods, elevate teaching to meet world-class standards, improve conditions for healthy and active lifestyles, and strengthen the sustainability of the Chicago region. By connecting the generosity of donors with the needs of the community, the Trust ensures that our region thrives today and for future generations.
*Please note that Mr. Pollan’s conversation is only a portion of the evening’s production. The ticket price also
includes a strolling buffet on the Harris Theater Rooftop Terrace.
