Canceled: Mix at Six: Ambi Subramaniam

Ambi Subramaniam

On March 12, 2020, Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot banned all public and private gatherings of more than 1,000 people, and urged that gatherings of more than 250 people be suspended for a minimum of 30 days. Following these recommendations, and in the interest of public health, the Harris Theater has canceled all planned events and performances through April 12, 2020.

As a result, the April 7th Mix at Six performance of Ambi Subramaniam has been canceled. A Harris Theater box office representative will contact ticket holders regarding the disposition of tickets. We ask that all ticket holders consider converting their purchase to a tax-deductible donation to the Theater during this challenging time. If you know what you would like to do with your tickets now, or if you have questions about ticket donations, exchanges, or refunds, you may contact the box office at info@harristheaterchicago.org

Hailed as “the new king of Indian classical violin” (The Times of India) and “India’s Itzhak Perlman” (Ozy Magazine), Ambi Subramaniam has been trained by his father and guru Dr. L. Subramaniam from the age of three and gave his first performance at the age of seven. He has received awards and recognitions including the Ritz Icon of the Year Award, the Rotary Youth Award, two Global Indian Music Awards, and was awarded a Golden Violin from Sri Jayendra Saraswati when he was 18 years old.

Today, Subramaniam regularly plays duet violin concerts with Dr. L. Subramaniam and solo concerts. He has performed at the prestigious Dussehra Festival at the Mysore Palace and the Centenary Celebration of the Banglaore Gayana Samaj in India; the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad; the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival in New York; the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago; the Royal Festival Hall in London; the Maximum India Festival at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; and the Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman.

Beginning at 6PM, Mix at Six is the series the Chicago Tribune said “ups the cultural ante considerably,” featuring high energy, fast-paced programs after work and opportunities for audiences to engage with featured performers. Specialty cocktails and food will be available for purchase in the lobby from HT concessions and pop-up food vendors.

The approximate run time of this performance is 60 minutes with no intermission.
