One (1) winner of the Silkroad Ensemble's American Railroad CD giveaway will be randomly selected and will be contacted after the giveaway concludes on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The winner may pick up their CD at the Harris Theater Box Office on Thursday, November 7, 2024, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. if they have tickets to the evening’s 7:30 p.m. performance. If they are not attending the November 7 performance or would prefer to receive the CD at a later date, the CD will be mailed the week of November 12. Restrictions apply — the CD can only be mailed within the United States. Must be 18 to enter. No ticket purchase necessary.
About American Railroad
Under the leadership of artistic director Rhiannon Giddens, Silkroad Ensemble illuminates the impact of immigrant communities on the creation of the United States’ transcontinental railroad. American Railroad features new, original music written by ensemble members and outside composers. Chinese traditional music, on instruments such as the suona and pipa, contrasts the fiddle and banjo of Black musical traditions and their Indigenous and Celtic counterparts. These cultural intersections reveal a thread of commonality despite their varied origins and remind us of the intricately rich American story.
