Kids Meet the Music with Chicago-based string ensemble D-Composed showcases the work of Black composers through engaging musical performances. Designed for children aged 4–11, the programs take place in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Lower Lobby, and kids are encouraged to enjoy in their own way — sitting up close on mats on the floor, in rows of chairs, or switching between both. Plus, no shushing allowed!
For the final performance of the season, slide, soar, and rumble with trombonist Robyn Smith, Principal Trombonist of the Chicago Sinfonietta, in a show built around one of the brass family’s most playful instruments. Robyn joins her friends from D-Composed in a program meant to captivate the audience with music across styles and genres. Come to see all the trombone can do and learn about the Black excellence that inspires these musical professionals in their work.
