Performance Run Time: 2 hours

Monsieur Chopin features the romantic story and music of the Polish pianist composer Fryderyk Chopin, set in Chopin’s Parisian salon where he will teach a piano lesson that actually took place in March 1848, just days after the February 1848 revolution. As the piano lesson unfolds, Chopin reveals secrets about the art of the piano and composition, as well as secrets about himself. Hershey Felder delves deep into the music and psyche of the man, considered by his contemporaries, and now by history, as the true “Poet of the Piano.” In Monsieur Chopin, Hershey features some of the pianist-composer’s most beautiful and enduring music while entertaining us in his unique and theatrical style.

Making its World Premiere in 2019, the entirely new, Hershey Felder as MONSIEUR CHOPIN (based on an original production that premiered at Chicago’s Royal George Theatre in 2006) has delighted audiences across the country in critically acclaimed sold-out runs, with New York’s Broadway World declaring that “Felder masters the role of Chopin so perfectly that you will find yourself believing the musical genius has come alive before your eyes.” Chicago’s WTTW says that “The musical and dramatic magic of this show must be heard and seen as Felder brings Chopin to vivid life.”

The Mercury News lauds Felder’s performance as “Enchanting. Genius seems an apt description.” The Chicago Sun-Times called the show “emotionally charged and glorious,” while The San Diego Union-Tribune declared it “Inviting and absorbing. Full of vibrant life,”
